5 Tips for Your First CrossFit Class

by Tony Phillips

Starting something new is always a little nerve-wracking. Here are five things that will make your first CrossFit class a great experience:

1. Show up early. Arriving 10 minutes before class gives you time to meet your coach, see the space, and settle in.

2. Don't compare yourself. Everyone in that room started somewhere. Focus on your own movement, not the person next to you.

3. Listen to your coach. They'll walk you through everything. If something doesn't feel right, say so - that's what they're there for.

4. Scale without shame. Scaling a workout isn't "doing less." It's doing the right amount for where you are today.

5. Stay after class. The community happens in the five minutes after the workout ends. Introduce yourself. You'll be glad you did.
